Jim Heatherington, CPA

In 1986, after being employed in the tax division at Arthur Andersen & Co. for 15 years, Jim
established Heatherington & Fields with Ann Fields.  He continues to specialize in taxation.

Education

Jim is a graduate of Lafayette College and received a Masters Degree in Professional Accounting
from the University of Texas.  He received several honors including Beta Alpha Psi and Phi Kappa
Phi.

Areas of Expertise

Jim's areas of expertise includes industry specialties such as manufacturing, service industries,
farming, wholesale/retail, real estate, and exempt organizations.

Technical specialties include partnerships and S corporations,
U.S. taxation of international transactions, corporate reorganizations, tax accounting methods,
consolidated returns, and multistate taxation.

Jim was a state taxation instructor at the University of Tulsa's Graduate Tax Program for five years.
Jim also served as a past member of Andersen's Interstate Tax Speciality team and was a regular
instructor on state tax matters at Arthur Andersen seminars for partners and managers.  Jim has
been a member of the Editorial Board of Interstate Tax Insights and its predecessor for 18 years.

Jim has extensive experience in negotiating with IRS personnel at all levels, including obtaining
rulings.

Professional Affiliations

Jim is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants - Tax Division, and
Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) having served 18 years on the Tax
Committee and as the past Chairman of the Tax Committee; Chairman of Annual Oklahoma Tax
Institute in 1991, 1993, 1995, and 2001; Tulsa Tax Club member and past President.
